Its founder, Karin Mikulášová, originally graduated from the Technical university, department of finance, banking and investment. She worked in various positions in the business. The common denominator of the managerial positions in which she worked was working with people, finding solutions focused on achieving results and doing so in non-traditional, creative ways. But how did she get involved with art? "It was about a desire to change my life, to create something new. The market brought so many various techniques, products, colors, and methods of making things. Whether it was small household decorations, scarves, brooches, jewellery or textiles, I wanted to learn the respective techniques. However, I was completely absorbed in textiles, especially silk. So I looked for various courses where I could learn new ones and try them on my own. I soon discovered that it also brought me joy to teach these techniques and - even more - to organize creative events. During the common meetings at Výmenník Brigádnická, we came up with an idea to professionalize our activities. After that, the chapter of the civic association began to be written. 2nd November 2021 the Civic Association Creative Workshop celebrated the tenth anniversary of its foundation. ”- says Karin Mikulášová with pride.

The civic association has established cooperation with various lecturers, and so rare friendships have developed. Karin Mikulášová runs courses on felting, painting on silk, and sand painting. In the Workshop, she has built her own creative world - and she likes to invite people inside. Under her leadership, people get to know various art techniques and processes. The individual workshops are focused not only on modern and design pieces but are also based on our folk traditions and crafts. Wirework, decorating gingerbread, weaving baskets, felting, these are just a few of the courses that retain the authenticity and nostalgia for our ancestors. It is an interesting, creative, inspiring, and enriching experience. The atmosphere in these workshops is always relaxed and friendly. You are limited only by the material you use, giving free rein to your fantasy and creativity within those limits. "Everybody knows that while it's mainly about creating in my workshop, it’s also about also relaxing. We do not grade anyone here and do not dictate what their product must look like. As they say: ‘There’s no accounting for taste.' I’ve noticed how some people come in all hurried from work and, after an hour or two, they leave with a smile on their face, in addition to a piece that they have created themselves - which does not have to be perfect at all. I am no less pleased that visitors to Košice have also found their way to us and will indulge in a creative workshop as an experience within the planned program in our beautiful city. "
