Our landscapes covered with forests and meadows serve as perfect bee pastures for the tiny and hard-working animals that tirelessly work to produce the sweet nectar, which not only dazzles the taste buds but also strengthens and supports the whole body. A number of outstanding beekeeping communities also operate in the Zemplén. The honey from Vizsoly, the representative of which is Gergő "Mézes" Molnár, is already widely known throughout Europe and dozens of honey types are produced thanks to bee colonies. From rapeseed to chestnut to rose honey, you can taste countless different honey types with special flavours in Vizsoly, where education also receives a key role. In the locally operating honey museum, you can find out about the history of beekeeping, the techniques used by beekeepers and the life of bees. And if you long for something really unique, it’s worth spending half an hour in the apitherapy house, which is capable of effectively treating a number of diseases. The essence of its operation is that there are beehives with constantly working bees in them under the benches in the wooden house, so in addition to the soothing buzz we can hear, but also the feel the scent of the precious and healing propolis.

You can also find honey that warms body and soul in Göncruszka: the local Reformed parish produces its honey partly exported abroad with the help of volunteers and the revenues are ploughed back in the operation of the community, spending all incoming amounts on developments and education. This community learns from the bees' way of life: everyone knows that they cannot survive alone but only as members of a community; they play a role in the life of the community that suits their stage of life, interdependence is important, as well as dynamic, continuous movement and development. Their honeys are treated cold, which means they are bottled immediately after spinning without any form of heat treatment so all the internal values remain intact.
