Slovakia has a really long tradition in wearing folk costumes, with every one of them trying to outstrip the rest in colorfulness, ornamentation, embroidery, or shirring and with variations from village to village. As traditions slowly give way to the modern world, peeking into a tailor's workshop, where they practically breathe life into this garment, is a unique experience.

Your first steps will lead to the village of Rejdová, where you will get acquainted with its rich history and soak up the pleasant atmosphere of the beautiful natural scenery around. The mayor, Slávka Krišťáková, will welcome you and tell you more about this picturesque village. You will visit the Museum of Traditional Culture and take a look at the extensive chronicle of the village. Then you’ll move to the tailoring workshop Rejdovka, where skillful women will invite you into their world of colored threads and fabrics. You will see what typical Rejdová costumes, partas (decorated headbands), or embroidered shirts and coats look like. After that, you will find out firsthand how much skill and patience you need to do so - during the making of an embroidered souvenir that will remind you of this visit.

A home-cooked lunch in a local tavern will prove a gourmet experience, but after a great meal, a walk-in nature will also do you well - you will see the preserved architecture of the village and an educational trail.
