In the past this area was full of mills, where everybody had their flour ground so that they could bake their own bread. This excursion will be accompanied by furnaces, tasty bites and freshly baked delicacies.

  1. Tákos - Nagyar – Tiszakóród – Tiszacsécse
After visiting the church in Tákos, you can test the local noodle cake made in the furnace. Crossing the Tisza Bridge and after visiting the historic rose garden in Luby Castle in Nagyar, you will taste oven-baked scones. In Tiszakóród, at the spectacular confluence of the Tisza River and the Túr Canal, you will have a picnic and enjoy the beach. After visiting the birthplace of our popular writer, Zsigmond Móricz, in Tiszacsécs, you will have flat bread for dinner.

  1. Túristvándi - Panyola
You will spend the first half of the day in this picturesque riverside village. There is a water mill here, which is now a protected monument of industrial history and also a museum, but the miller could still grind wheat in it. The water mill constructed in the late 18th century, unique from the aspect of industrial history, is the pride of the Upper Tisza region; with its structure built according to folk architecture and its three low-flush waterwheels, it is a rarity in Central Europe. Lunch at Water Mill Camping, then you will take a slow canoe tour on the local section of the Old Tour River gliding among water lilies. In the late afternoon you will visit the village museum and community furnace of Panyola, which will be shown by its builder, Bandi Kályhás.

In the morning you will participate in a cooking course Szatmár style and then eat what you have cooked. You’ll learn the recipes of the local „tied soup” and the twisted doughnut filled with plum jam.
