A Taste of Gemer
The village of Jablonov nad Turňou - Granarium
Taste of the region
Refractory clay has always been mined in Gemer. The main product made of it was ceramics, which was used mainly for baking in ovens. There was therefore a tradition to prepare dishes in clay ovens. This Gemerian tradition was rediscovered by a couple, Silvia and Lórant Papai, who restored the local medieval granary in Jablonov nad Turňou, called Granárium. It was there they revived the methods of baking bread and preparing various dishes in outside ovens.
