The civic association Tokajský strapec (Tokaj Bunch) is a fellowship of winemakers, winegrowers and friends of wine. It brings together small winegrowers and wine producers in the Tokaj region - especially around the village of Viničky. Its aim is to protect the rights and ownership of Tokaj vineyards and cellars and to raise the self-confidence and pride of small producers of their ancestral property. Small winegrowers naturally try to cooperate, as with their annual production of 300 to 1000 litres of wine they cannot compete with large winemakers. The Tokaj Region Act permits the cultivation of the furmint, lipovina, and yellow nutmeg varieties on the tuff subsoil. When you visit a small farmhouse cellar, you are in direct contact with the winemaker -the person who cares for the vine, sprays it, prunes it, gathers it, processes it, and produces wine from it. You can walk through their vineyard, see the individual varieties. That is the difference between large-scale and small-scale winemaking. Wines from small vineyards are not standardized, they are alive and every wine is different.

Even visitors who have thus far preferred foreign destinations have started coming to Tokaj. They have been discovering that this wine-growing area offers not only quality wines, but also a variety of leisure opportunities. Attractions include a 12-meter barrel-shaped observation tower, fishing, and boating on the Bodrog River, bathing in wine barrels, cycling, and hiking. In addition to the unique tuff wine cellars, you can visit protected natural areas and reservations, national cultural monuments, archaeological sites, or the lowest altitude place in Slovakia.
